Feachtas 'Tacaíocht Thar Lear'!
Support/Join the campaign in Britain for an Irish Language Act in the North!
A chairde,
A campaign in support of the Irish Language Act in the North via Irish language groups in Britain has started
Below are a few actions you can take to help us in the campaign and to help ensure the British Government upholds their commitment to the Act. Now that we are in October this is now gaining extra importance and urgency so please take a minute to help , if you can , le do thoil.
1. SEND A LETTER to YOUR MP.
The letter (see link to template below) will give them a bit of background on the issue, lets them know that the Act will come before Parliament in the autumn, and has space for you to write in why this campaign is important to you, and invites them to meet with Conradh na Gaeilge. We are aiming to raise awareness here, and increase support from local MPs all over Britain.
The Act has support from all major parties in Britain.
If your MP gets back to you, it would be great if you could let us know, via
cnag_Glaschú@hotmail.com, and also the campaign committee by emailing
learphollcnag@mail.com, especially if their response is positive. We’d like to keep a track of who we’re getting in touch with.
You can either write to them, or use the letter as an email template. If you are not sure who your MP is, you can use this website to find who they are.
Remember to include your name and address, so they know you are a constituent of theirs, and your query will be dealt with quickly.
Included here too the website which gives data of number of Irish Citizens for each constituency in Britain- useful information to include!
2. Speak about the Irish language act to your friends and family in Britain, let them know the importance of the Act, and the influence they could have here too. Please share the letter on if anyone is willing to write to their local MP!
3. Join the conversation on social media. We will be using hashtags #AchtAnois, #SeasAnFód #DeargLeFearg and #TacaíochtDonAcht . We’d love to see you dress in the Dream Dearg’s red and white colours and send pictures and tweets etc in support of the campaign.
4. Look out for the event the campaign will be hosting in Westminster in October.
And like and share our posts to raise the profile of the campaign. We'll be sharing them from
@LearphollCnaG /
@CnaG /
@CnaG_LDN
/
@gaeilge_glasgow
/@My_Mums_Voice/@AnDreamDearg on Twitter, and associated facebook and instagram accounts!
5. If you are able, we’d like to highlight two fundraising campaigns to you:
Linda Ervine's Naíscoil na Seolta, the first Irish Language Nursery school in East Belfast and an important new player in the tradition of Irish language in Unionist communities- currently fundraising here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/charity-web/charity/displayCharityCampaignPage.action?campaignId=11501
And also, both Conradh na Gaeilge and PPR are taking two landmark cases (One on the Irish Language strategy and PPR on Homelessness) and seeking support for legal fees. There is additional information below when you click on this link, but it would be fantastic if you had a few pounds spare to show your support for this campaign too.

Is mise le meas,
Evin Ó Dúnaigh, (Oifigeach Forbhartha CnaG Glaschú)
P.s. Here is the campaign’s Zoom kickoff event, here is the event on youtube.

Sonraí don rang 'Thar Bunrang' deimhnithe anois!
Tá an-áthas orainn sonraí a fhógairt do rang seachtainiúil nua do dhaoine fásta!
Beidh an t-ainm ‘Beyond Beginners’ / 'Thar Bunrang' ar an rang seo agus beidh sé ar siúl gach Dé Máirt ó 7in go 9in.
(Nóta: mar atá lenár ranganna eile, beidh an rang seo ar líne tríd an bhfeidhmchlár Zoom faoi láthair .)
Tá an rang seo dírithe ar dhaoine :
a) a bhí i mBunrang (nó dhó!) do glanthosaitheoirí roimhe seo (linn féin nó in áit eile) agus nach mbainfeadh an oiread sin leasa - ó thaobh feabhas a chur ar a gcuid gaeilge agus taitneamh a bhaint asti - as a bheith ag freastal anois ar rang dirithe go hiomlán do thosaitheoirí .
b) atá ag teacht ar ais go dtí an Ghaeilge tar éis tamaill agus a airíonn go bhfuil a gcuid Gaeilge giota beag meirgeach. Seo rang chun tú féin a ath-imeascadh sa Ghaeilge gan strús.
Sa rang seo tosóimid ag obair chun rudaí cosúil leis an nuacht, cláracha teilifíse, an aimsir, spórt, leabhair, ceol, scannáin srl a phlé agus ansin níos mó chur leis an obair sin.
B’fhéidir go n-aireodh daoine áirithe, nuair a bhíonn beagán cleachtaidh acu agus go bhfaighidh siad a gcuid muinín arís, i ndiaidh cúpla seachtain do ndéanfadh siad a chinneadh, b'fhéidir, go n-oirfeadh Meánrang níos fearr daoibh - fahdb ar bith faoi sin!
B’fhéidir go mbeadh daoine eile ag iarraidh siúl siar thar na rudaí bunúsacha agus mar sin b'fearr leo freastal ar an Bhunrang ar an Aoine.
Beidh daoine áirithe eile ag iarraidh freastal ar dá rang - bheadh sin go hiomlán ceart go leor !
Le do sheoladh a chur ar liosta an rang agus/nó má tá aon cheist agat, déan teagmháil linn trí
cnag_glaschu@hotmail.com nó 07866453708

Beyond Beginners class details confirmed!
We are delighted to announce the details of a new weekly class for adults!
This class we are calling
'Beyond Beginners'
and it will be on
every Tuesday
from 7pm to 9pm.
(Note: as with our other classes , for the moment this class will be online via the
Zoom
application.)
This class is aimed at those folk who perhaps
a) have been in a Beginners class (or two!) before (either with ourselves or elsewhere) and for whom now attending a complete Beginners class would not be of as much benefit in terms of getting any better and enjoying your Gaeilge.
b) are coming back to Irish after a fair while and feel pretty rusty. This is a class to ease yourself back into things.
In this class we will start to work on discussing things like the news, tv shows, weather, sport, books, music, films etc. and then to build on that.
Some folk might find that, once they have a bit of practice and get some confidence back , after a few weeks they may decide that an Intermediate class might actually suit you better– fahdb ar bith /no problem at all!
Other folk maybe want to refresh the basics and so attend the Beginners class on a Friday.
Some folk will want to attend both classes - tá sin go hiomlán ceart go leor/ that is all totally ok!
To be added to the mailing list for the class and/or if you have any questions, please contact us via
cnag_glaschu@hotmail.com or

Buailimid le chéile de gnáth ar an dara Céadaoin de gach mí, 7in-9in.
Bíonn fáilte ‘s fiche roimh duine ar bith agus suim acu i nGaeilge a labhairt , is cuma cíbe leibhéal atá agat!
Mar sin de scaip an scéal, le do thoil, chuig gach duine a cheapfá go mbeadh suim acu ann.
